Previously, free-tier users encountered grayed-out buttons for these features, limiting their accessibility. Now, anyone using the app can utilize them, though it remains unclear if there will be usage restrictions for non-paying users.
To utilize the new capabilities, users can activate Gemini Live by tapping the waveform icon next to the redesigned prompt bar. Screen sharing provides options to share the entire screen or contents of a specific app, with a persistent indicator displaying the duration of the session. This user-friendly interface allows for diverse applications, from fashion advice to educational inquiries. Gemini Live now joins the growing list of features that transitioned from a paid model to free availability, effectively broadening its user base and functionality.
