Eight Global Faculty Fellows from various countries are collaborating at Imperial’s I-X Centre for AI in Science to harness artificial intelligence (AI) in tackling pressing global challenges. The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Global Faculty Fellowship supports their interdisciplinary research, which spans areas such as wildlife conservation in India, infectious disease control in Brazil, and pharmaceutical advancements in Ghana. Under the mentorship of Professor Nick Jones, the fellows will integrate AI with their expertise, enhancing solutions to complex problems like flash-flood prediction in Malaysia and optimizing drug formulations.
This initiative aims to elevate scientific research and foster long-lasting AI-enabled research communities worldwide. The first year entails advanced AI training and collaborative skill development, while the second year allows fellows to focus on their research at home without teaching duties.
