Google has launched a major Gmail update, introducing AI-powered features in what it calls the Gemini era. Announced by CEO Sundar Pichai, these enhancements aim to improve inbox management. Key features include AI Overviews, which summarize lengthy email threads, and personalized suggested replies that align with users’ writing styles. The Proofread tool offers advanced grammar and tone checks, while the AI Inbox filters less important messages to prioritize crucial ones. AI Overviews allow users to query directly in their inbox, generating concise summaries of discussions. While AI Overview summaries and Help Me Write are available to all users, the ability to ask questions using AI Overviews is exclusive to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. This rollout starts in the US, supporting English, with plans for expansion to other languages. Overall, these updates position Gmail as a more proactive and personal inbox assistant.
