Google AI Mode Introduces PDF Uploads, Canvas Planner, and New Chrome AI Tools

Google has introduced new AI Mode features in Search to enhance learning and research, especially as schools reopen. Key additions include image and PDF querying, live video interactions, and a Canvas planning tool designed for students. Robby Stein, VP of Product for Google Search, emphasized that AI Mode helps users tackle complex questions and discover high-quality information seamlessly.

Users can now ask questions about images and PDFs on desktop, expanding functionality beyond mobile. The innovative Canvas tool aids in creating personalized study plans by gathering relevant information and allows users to upload files. Additionally, Search Live integrates real-time video support, enabling users to ask questions using Google Lens. A new feature in Chrome lets users highlight elements and receive AI-generated summaries, facilitating contextual learning directly from web content.

These features aim to improve student experiences and integrate technology into education, with various tools rolling out soon in the U.S.
