In February, Google enhanced its Gemini with a memory feature, allowing it to remember past conversations. Recently, Google introduced a personalized chat function named Personal Context, enabling Gemini to learn user preferences over time and craft tailored responses. According to Michael Siliski, senior director of the Gemini app, this function improves interaction by referencing past chats and refining responses automatically, eliminating the need for users to request it explicitly. For instance, if users mention their favorite comic book, Gemini can suggest it when helping plan themed events, along with related ideas. This iterative upgrade surpasses Anthropic’s Claude chatbot, which still requires user prompts to access previous chats. The rollout of Personal Context is starting now and will be fully available in a few weeks, initially for Gemini 2.5 Pro in select countries, with plans for broader expansion to Gemini 2.5 Flash and other regions.
