Google Enhances Home App with Advanced Gemini Features

Google has acknowledged that the Google Home app hasn’t been user-friendly, prompting a significant redesign aimed at enhancing performance and integrating AI capabilities. The revamped Google Home app, set to launch on October 1, introduces a more centralized device management system and the AI assistant, Gemini AI. Notably, the app boasts a 70% faster startup time and 80% fewer crashes, reflecting over 100 updates that optimize battery and memory use.

The new app consolidates Nest device management, allowing users to control thermostats, cameras, and smart locks seamlessly. Features like the intuitive Activity tab provide an AI-driven “Home Brief” summary, making home monitoring easier. Additionally, the app supports gesture controls, advanced video playback, and rich notifications for enhanced usability. Users can now employ natural language to interact with Gemini for automation and insights into home activity. This update aims to streamline smart home management across over 800 million devices from more than 50,000 OEMs.
