At Google I/O Connect India 2025, Google unveiled strategic initiatives to enhance India’s artificial intelligence capabilities, focusing on its developer community. A major highlight was the localization of onshore processing for Gemini 2.5 Flash, aimed at providing low-latency AI performance for developers in critical sectors like healthcare and finance. Manish Gupta from Google DeepMind emphasized the vital role Indian developers play in leveraging AI to create impactful applications. Google reported substantial contributions from its Play and Android platforms, generating ₹4 lakh crore and creating 35 lakh jobs in 2024. New tools, including agentic AI within Firebase Studio, will aid developers in deploying AI applications more efficiently. Google also expanded mobile commerce offerings with mapped places and India-specific Google Maps pricing. Collaborations with Indian startups on AI models and initiatives like ‘Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training’ and the Gen AI Exchange Hackathon further demonstrate Google’s commitment to advancing AI and game development in India.
