Google LLC has unveiled an upgraded version of Stitch, its AI tool that streamlines user interface (UI) creation for websites and mobile apps. Following the announcement, shares of Figma Inc., a key player in graphic design software, fell over 4%. Stitch automates the labor-intensive process of converting design elements into HTML and CSS, leveraging Google’s Gemini large language models. The new version features an “AI-native, infinite canvas” for a comprehensive view of design projects and can generate multiple screens in a single session—up to five at once. Developers can upload images or describe elements, like a product catalog page, while also refining outputs through natural language or voice commands. Additional features include integration with external agents like Google’s Antigravity and the ability to export designs in a standardized format. Available for free on Google Labs, Stitch aims to enhance UI development efficiency and consistency across various design tools.
