Google is enhancing its Gemini app with updates focused on personalization, privacy, and user control. Starting today, Gemini will reference past conversations to provide tailored responses, creating a collaborative feel similar to conversing with a knowledgeable partner. This aligns with Google’s vision to develop an assistant that comprehensively understands user preferences.
A new feature, Temporary Chat, allows users to have quick discussions without affecting future interactions. These chats are not stored, ensuring privacy, and are removed after 72 hours. Additionally, the “Gemini Apps Activity” setting will be renamed to “Keep Activity,” giving users control over their data while still improving Google services.
These updates aim to streamline communication by reducing repetitive context-setting and maintaining confidentiality, especially in team environments. The rollout starts today for Gemini 2.5 Pro in select regions, with additional expansions planned. These changes mark a significant step toward personalized, privacy-focused user experiences.
