Google Gemini Introduces AI-Generated Images of People—With a Key Limitation

Google’s Gemini, an AI competitor to ChatGPT, has reintroduced the capability to generate AI-generated images of people, following a previous suspension due to misuse concerns. The enhanced feature is now available to users with Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise accounts, although strict restrictions are in place to prevent the creation of identifiable individuals, minors, or violent content. Google emphasizes the improved safety protocols, including technical enhancements and user feedback loops.

In addition, Google announced customized “Gems” designed to facilitate personalized AI experiences. Users can create Gems tailored to specific tasks, such as nutrition coaching or writing assistance, with premade options like The Learning Coach and The Brainstormer also available. These new features aim to leverage Gemini’s improved image quality and user-centric design, ensuring a balanced and engaging interaction with AI technology.
