Google Home Unveils Gemini-Powered ‘Live Search’ Feature for Cameras

Google Home has rolled out significant quality-of-life updates and an AI-powered feature, as announced by Anish Katturkan on X. The new “Live Search” function, part of the Gemini for Home service replacing Google Assistant, allows users to query real-time information through home cameras. For example, users can ask, “Hey Google, is there a car in the driveway?” However, this feature is exclusive to Google Home Premium subscribers, available for $20 per month or $200 annually. Gemini for Home offers enhanced accuracy and quality of responses, reliably playing new songs and providing better targeting for smart home devices. Improvements also include reduced audio cut-offs, more reliable voice automation, and enhanced support for the Nest x Yale lock, which now features comprehensive passcode management, real-time notifications, and improved lock settings. For detailed updates, users can refer to Google Home’s latest changelog.
