Google Launches MCP to Enhance AI Model Infrastructure Access

Google has announced the integration of Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) into its cloud infrastructure, establishing a universal standard for AI models to connect with external data sources and tools. This integration simplifies the interface programming for various applications. Starting now, Google provides managed servers that allow AI agents direct access to essential services like Google Maps, BigQuery, and both Compute and Kubernetes Engines. This capability enables AI to autonomously manage infrastructure and optimize travel planning. Additionally, businesses can leverage the Apigee platform to deploy internal APIs as AI tools. Google is also planning to expand its offerings to include more services like Cloud Storage and databases in the near future. This new advancement marks a significant step in enhancing AI functionality and accessibility in cloud computing, making it easier for companies to harness the power of AI for diverse applications.
