Google Messages Could Soon Receive the Nano Banana Upgrade

Google’s latest image-generation model, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, known as Nano Banana, is making waves internationally. Following its recent integration into Lens and AI Mode, it is now being tested within Google Messages, as indicated by the latest beta release (version 20251009_00_RC00). Android Authority discovered code suggesting the presence of Nano Banana features in chats, featuring a banana icon that appears when users long-press images. This functionality will be available for both individual and group chats. Although the icon is currently non-functional, it hints at future capabilities where users can edit or generate images with prompts. Some Gemini features are already accessible to non-subscribers, implying that the Nano Banana integration might be widely available at launch. As this feature is still in early development, it’s clear that Google plans to extend Nano Banana across its services, signaling a promising future for the technology.
