Google Photos’ AI Search Feature Returns—Here’s How to Disable It

admin

Google Photos has reintroduced its “Ask Photos” feature after a brief suspension due to issues with slow results and poor accuracy. This feature allows users to find photos using natural language queries, enhancing the existing search capabilities. For example, users can request images from specific trips or meals by stating prompts like “Show me the best photos from my trip to Traverse City.” Concerns from users led to the temporary pause, but now Google has improved the system by initially showing traditional search results before generating refined “Best Match” options through its Gemini AI. Users can opt out of this feature if they prefer standard search, which can be easily disabled in the app’s settings. The feature is currently available only for users who meet certain criteria, including being 18 or older and having Face Groups enabled.
