Google has embedded Gemini across its products, including Google Photos, which now offers the Gemini-powered Ask Photos feature for more intuitive search capabilities. However, not all users favor this approach. In response to feedback, Google is introducing a toggle that allows users to switch back to the Classic Search experience. Shimrit Ben-Yair, head of Google Photos, Google One, and AI subscriptions, acknowledged the need for more control over search functionalities. Ask Photos excels at handling complex, natural-language queries but may perform slowly, especially for users with extensive libraries, like those containing 1.5TB of images. The anticipated toggle will provide flexibility for users to choose their preferred search method. Additionally, enhancements to Ask Photos are set to improve results for common queries. Users are encouraged to share their feedback to refine the experience further. This update aims to enhance user satisfaction with Google Photos while leveraging advanced AI capabilities.
