Google Photos has launched a new generative AI feature called “Me Meme,” enabling users to create personalized memes using their images. Initially available to U.S. users, this feature lets you combine a photo template with your own images to generate custom memes. Announced on Thursday, “Me Meme” utilizes Google’s Gemini AI technology, particularly Nano Banana, allowing users to enjoy creative experimentation within the Photos app. To achieve the best results, it’s recommended to upload well-lit, front-facing photos, as the feature is still in an experimental phase. This fun addition aims to encourage engagement with Google Photos and keep users away from competitor apps by showcasing AI capabilities. Users will find the “Me Meme” option under the “Create” tab as it rolls out over the coming weeks for both iOS and Android devices. The feature also supports sharing and allows multiple generations of the meme by selecting the “regenerate” option.
