Google is reportedly working on a new, cost-effective subscription tier called “Gemini AI Lite,” aimed at making AI more accessible to users hesitant to pay for the $20-per-month Google One AI Pro plan. This initiative, highlighted in a recent APK teardown by Android Authority, suggests that features like “Deep Research” and access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model might soon be available at a lower price point, potentially competing with ChatGPT. Currently, free users have limited access to these features, while Google One AI Pro subscribers enjoy higher usage limits. This upcoming tier may retain existing subscribers nearing the end of complimentary 12-month subscriptions bundled with various devices. However, specific pricing and feature details remain unconfirmed. Similar to the previously launched Google One Lite subscription, the AI Lite option might be introduced selectively across regions, thereby amplifying Google’s commitment to affordable AI solutions.
