TCL has launched the first Google TV devices integrated with the Gemini AI assistant, aiming to transform televisions into interactive home hubs. With over 300 million active devices, Google TV is enhancing its capabilities with voice-based features for more natural conversations. Gemini enables hands-free content discovery and back-and-forth queries, allowing users to ask detailed questions about shows or subjects. This AI integration, coupled with far-field microphones on TCL’s premium QD-Mini LED TVs, facilitates a seamless two-way interaction.
Beyond entertainment, Google envisions TV’s role expanding into education, travel, and shopping, preparing to integrate agentic AI for an enhanced user experience. The “always on” feature, showcasing photos when not in use, is becoming popular, with significant engagement in home automation through Google TV. With innovations in AI and voice interaction, Google positions TVs as central to daily life, with usage averaging three to five hours per day in family settings.
