Google Teams Up with Reliance Jio to Provide Free Gemini AI Services to Over 500 Million Users in India

On November 1st, 2023, Google announced a significant partnership with Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom provider, to offer Gemini artificial intelligence services for free to over 500 million Jio subscribers. This initiative includes access to the advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro AI model, enhanced usage rights for NotebookLM, and 2TB of cloud storage—valued at around INR 35,100 (USD 396) per user. The rollout of Google’s AI Pro package will occur in phases, with a focus on young users aged 18 to 25 subscribed to unlimited 5G plans. Early access will be available for 18 months before expanding to all Jio customers. This collaboration highlights Google’s commitment to expanding AI accessibility and Jio’s leader status in the telecom sector, ensuring wide-reaching benefits for a diverse user base.
