Recently, Google introduced a vibe-coding tool named Opal, currently in testing within Google Labs in the U.S. This innovative platform allows users to create mini web apps by simply providing text prompts or remixing existing applications from a gallery.
Opal streamlines app development by enabling users to view and interact with a visual workflow of input, output, and generation steps. Users can edit prompts and manually add steps using an accessible toolbar. Once completed, apps can be published online and easily shared for testing with others using their Google accounts.
This initiative positions Google within a competitive landscape that includes tools from Canva, Figma, and Replit, targeting non-technical users aiming to prototype applications without any coding experience, thus democratizing app development.
