Google Unveils Anti-Scam Tools and AI Safety Initiatives for Children and Seniors in India

On November 20, Google announced a safety-focused AI roadmap for India, emphasizing protection for children, teenagers, and older adults. Key initiatives include on-device real-time anti-scam tools for Pixel phones, powered by Gemini Nano. This feature analyzes calls from unknown numbers without recording data, ensuring user privacy. Google is also enhancing AI safety by expanding the SynthID Detector and releasing an open-source text watermarking tool through its Responsible GenAI Toolkit, aiding in the identification of AI-generated content. Additionally, Google has pledged $200,000 to the CyberPeace Foundation to support AI-driven cyber defense tools and promote safer digital learning environments. Furthermore, a $1 million investment will be made to five APAC organizations to explore AI’s challenges and opportunities. Google’s commitment is to maintain user trust as India embraces a digital economy, integrating comprehensive safety measures and digital literacy initiatives.
