Google has introduced Google AI Edge Eloquent, an innovative offline-first AI dictation app for iOS, competing with tools like Wispr Flow and SuperWhisper. Available for free, the app utilizes Gemma-based automatic speech recognition, allowing users to initiate dictation after the initial setup. It provides real-time transcription and automatically refines text, eliminating filler words for enhanced clarity. Users can customize outputs with options for key points and varying detail levels. The app supports both local and cloud processing, letting users choose between on-device or cloud-based models for refined text. Integration with users’ Gmail accounts allows the import of specialized vocabulary, while a transcription history and usage metrics help track performance. Designed to convert natural speech into polished text, this app promises cleaner outputs than traditional dictation software. Although currently limited to iOS, an Android version is in development that will include additional features for seamless integration.
