At Google I/O 2023, Google unveiled its AI chatbot, “Bard,” powered by the advanced PaLM 2 model. This allows for faster responses and supports multi-language interactions, with plans to extend usage to 180 countries. Initially focused on English, Bard will soon include Japanese and Korean support, aiming to cover the 40 most popular languages globally. In testing, Bard has shown preliminary support for Chinese, albeit with mixed responses.
The update enhances Bard’s capabilities by supporting over 20 programming languages, enabling code explanations and optimizations, along with a new dark mode for user comfort. While there’s no paid version like ChatGPT Plus planned, Bard will integrate with Google services like Gmail and Docs. Additionally, it will incorporate Google Lens for image analysis, positioning itself against competitors like OpenAI’s GPT-4. Google ensures Bard’s ethical use and privacy, emphasizing transparency in updates and user safety.
