Google’s AI, Gemini, is making significant strides against OpenAI’s ChatGPT, increasing its traffic share from 9.1% to 13.7% within a month. Meanwhile, ChatGPT’s share dipped from 78% to 73.8%, although it maintains high user loyalty; 82.2% of its users engage solely with the platform. Gemini ranks second with 49.1% single-user rate, followed by Grok (35.6%) and Purplelexity (33.1%). Gemini’s growth is notable, as it has seen increasing traffic for nine consecutive months, amidst declines on other major platforms like YouTube. Analysts speculate that OpenAI’s recent safety mode upgrade, designed to assist users in crisis situations, may have inadvertently fueled Gemini’s rise. However, some ChatGPT users express dissatisfaction with the automatic switch to “protection mode” during sensitive discussions. Despite these challenges, ChatGPT remains a giant in the market, attracting 5.9 billion monthly visitors, over five times that of Gemini.
