Google’s Gemini AI Enhances Personalization with Automatic Detail Memory

Google is enhancing its Gemini AI chatbot by introducing a feature that allows it to automatically recall past conversations, personalizing responses without prompting from users. With this update, Gemini can remember your key details and preferences, making it more intuitive. For example, if you previously sought YouTube content ideas about Japanese culture, Gemini might suggest related topics in future interactions. Google’s spokesperson, Elijah Lawal, emphasized the importance of user control, allowing the feature to be toggled off within settings. Additionally, Google is updating its privacy settings by renaming “Gemini Apps Activity” to “Keep Activity.” When enabled, this setting will utilize a sample of uploaded files to enhance services, while remaining off by default. Users can also opt for “temporary chats,” which don’t affect personalization or appear in activity logs, ensuring privacy for sensitive inquiries. This rollout begins with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model in select countries, aiming for broader availability.
