Google’s Gemini AI is evolving into an autonomous knowledge processor in Workspace apps, highlighted by the March 2026 update. This innovative “knowledge-aware system” synthesizes data from Drive, Gmail, and other files, eliminating the need for manual input. With a 70.48% success rate in complex spreadsheet tasks, Gemini approaches human expertise in data management. Users can effectively prompt the AI using natural language, such as “organize my upcoming move,” allowing it to extract relevant contact details and quotes from emails directly into spreadsheets. The new “Fill with Gemini” feature enhances data completion by leveraging existing cells and live Google Search results.

Improved functionalities in Google Docs include a “Help me create” tool that drafts documents while ensuring brand tone consistency from Drive archives. Google Slides now offers layout-based content creation aligned with branding, while the “Ask Gemini in Drive” function provides real-time answers across multiple documents. These capabilities are accessible through Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions.
