Google’s Gemini App Launches ‘Temporary Chat’ Feature for Enhanced User Privacy

Google has launched “Temporary Chat” in its Gemini app, enhancing privacy for users interacting with its AI assistant. This feature, now available on Android, iOS, and web platforms, allows users to initiate ephemeral chats marked by a dashed message bubble icon, ensuring these conversations don’t appear in Recent Chats or Gemini App Activity. With a storage limit of 72 hours, these chats are not used for AI training or personalization, making them perfect for sensitive queries. However, users cannot utilize Gems, connected apps, or save information, and feedback on responses is not supported. Currently, Temporary Chat is only accessible to personal accounts, excluding work and school profiles. This launch underscores Google’s commitment to user privacy while continuing to innovate its AI capabilities, following recent updates that include new emojis and enhanced image editing features. Overall, this new mode exemplifies a balance between advanced AI functionality and user control over data.
