Grammarly has acquired Superhuman, a leading email AI startup, which boasts an annual revenue of approximately $35 million. The acquisition follows Grammarly’s impressive $1 billion funding round from General Catalyst. Although financial details remain undisclosed, Superhuman was valued at $825 million in 2021 after securing over $110 million from prominent investors like IVP and Andreessen Horowitz. Grammarly CEO Shashir Merotra emphasized the importance of email, noting that professionals spend an average of three hours daily managing their inboxes. With the acquisition, Superhuman CEO Rahul Vohra and over 100 employees will join Grammarly, but the Superhuman brand will persist. This merger enables Superhuman to leverage Grammarly’s resources for further AI innovations and to expand into calendaring and collaboration tools. The collaboration aims to integrate Grammarly’s AI agents with Superhuman, enhancing productivity by streamlining access to digital workflows amidst a competitive landscape of AI-powered productivity solutions.
