This feature was based on “publicly available information from third-party LLMs,” raising ethical concerns over its legitimacy. The tool generated suggestions from notable figures, both living and deceased, causing significant backlash from those who were unaware their names were being used. Despite a disclaimer stating there was no endorsement from these individuals, many living authors expressed their dissatisfaction. In response to the uproar, Superhuman allowed writers to opt out, but the damage was done. Recently, CEO Shishir Mehrotra announced the temporary suspension of the Expert Review feature for reassessment, emphasizing the intention to foster meaningful connections between experts and their audiences. This ongoing situation highlights the need for ethical considerations in AI tools and the importance of respecting intellectual property rights.
