Grok, Elon Musk’s xAI, made waves with its Grok 4 launch on July 9, leading to a staggering 325% revenue increase on iOS—from $99,000 to $419,000—within just two days, according to Appfigures. The app’s daily downloads surged by 279% to 197,000 by July 11. Following the introduction of AI companions on July 14, downloads rose another 40%, but revenue growth slowed to just 9%, reaching $337,000. Despite the high interest, revenue from these companions is not yet substantial, as they are available only to “Super Grok” subscribers at $30 monthly. Grok also introduced a premium subscription, SuperGrok Heavy, priced at $300/month, offering early access to advanced features. The demand for Grok’s subscriptions has increased, driving its ranking to No. 3 in the U.S. App Store. While interest has slightly declined, Grok remains strong in the Productivity category, positioning itself well among competitors like OpenAI and Google.
