Gujarat Police has pioneered the nation’s first AI-driven tool, NARIT AI (Narcotics Analysis & RAG-based Investigation Tool), enhancing narcotics investigations under the NDPS Act. This innovative system, developed by the Western Railway police in collaboration with a Mumbai-based startup, utilizes Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology to assist law enforcement in complex narcotics cases. NARIT AI integrates legal provisions, case laws, and investigative procedures, ensuring compliance and minimizing procedural gaps that could lead to acquittals. The tool enables fast analysis by generating comprehensive reports from FIR content, highlighting case strengths and weaknesses, and providing legal guidance based on historical court judgments. This user-friendly system empowers all police ranks to conduct thorough investigations, ultimately improving conviction rates in narcotics-related crimes. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics offenses, showcasing the tool as a significant step in leveraging technology for enhanced law enforcement efficacy.
