Hinge CEO Justin McLeod Resigns to Launch AI-Driven Dating App Overtone

Justin McLeod, the founder and former CEO of Hinge, is stepping down to launch Overtone, a new AI-driven dating service backed by Match Group. Announced on Tuesday, Match Group revealed that Overtone will independently operate and is set to receive significant funding in early 2026. Jackie Jantos, previously Hinge’s president and CMO, will take over as CEO, bringing her experience in expanding Hinge’s global reach and appealing to Gen Z. McLeod founded Hinge in 2011, motivated by personal heartbreak, aiming to help people forge meaningful relationships. Hinge gained popularity by connecting users through mutual friends, and McLeod transitioned from initial ideas to a thriving platform. Under Jantos’ leadership, Hinge aims to maintain its focus on cultural relevance and innovative relationship-building. McLeod will serve as Chairman at Overtone, where he plans to leverage AI to enhance dating experiences.
