Hitachi and Google Cloud Collaborate to Develop AI Agents for Frontline Workers in Essential Services

Hitachi, Ltd. is shifting its focus to the Operational Technology (OT) sector, leveraging AI agents to enhance operational transformation for frontline workers in industries like energy, railways, and manufacturing. This initiative is part of a strategic partnership with Google Cloud aimed at improving productivity through AI and software modernization. Hitachi plans to utilize Gemini, Google Cloud’s advanced multimodal AI, which can process text, images, audio, and video simultaneously. This capability allows non-experts to easily create AI agents with no-code interfaces, optimizing on-site workflows. Jun Abe, Hitachi’s Executive Vice President, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in boosting employee productivity and fostering innovation. As the company continues to advance in the OT domain, it aims to create collaborative environments where workers can efficiently work alongside AI, focusing on high-value tasks. Despite these advancements, Hitachi’s stock on the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed down by 3.37%.
