Workday aims to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) adoption among its employees, termed “Workmates,” following findings that 43% of them feel they lack time to explore AI and are uncertain about its usage. Despite wanting greater engagement, employees expressed concerns over reliability and accuracy. To address this, Workday hosted a large meeting showcasing AI use cases, launched a digital academy for upskilling, and initiated a “prompt-a-thon” to brainstorm AI applications. Senior leadership mandated personal AI goals for all 19,300 employees to encourage usage. By May, AI adoption had reached 79%, surpassing the initial target of 20%. Moreover, Workday focuses on responsible AI principles, ensuring human oversight remains in crucial decision-making areas. While fears about AI potentially reducing jobs persist, the company promotes AI as a means to enhance employee productivity rather than replace them, framing it as a tool for business advancement and a supportive resource for teams.
