Hugging Face Introduces Two Innovative Open-Source Humanoid Robots

AI development platform Hugging Face has launched two open-source robots, HopeJr and Reachy Mini, with initial units expected to ship by year-end. HopeJr, a humanoid robot featuring 66 independent movements, can walk, move its arms, and manipulate objects, priced under $3,000. Reachy Mini, a desktop robot, can move its head, talk, listen, and assist in testing AI applications, costing around $300. Co-founder and CEO Clem Delangue emphasized that the open-source nature of these robots and their affordability aim to prevent monopolization of robotics innovations by large corporations. This initiative is supported by Hugging Face’s recent acquisition of humanoid robotics startup Pollen Robotics, announced in April. The company is focused on making robotics accessible and understandable, fostering a diverse ecosystem in the field.
