The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has launched a pilot project called ‘Elevate’, an AI-driven mock interviewer developed by Newton School. This innovative tool addresses the challenges faced by engineering students during job interviews, where nearly 70% struggle not due to inadequate technical skills but due to anxiety and poor communication. Elevate provides realistic interview practice by simulating scenarios from major companies like Amazon and Google. It analyzes student responses, generates follow-up questions, and produces detailed feedback reports covering communication style, confidence, and technical reasoning. Professor Raj Kumar Dutta emphasizes the importance of helping students manage interview pressure and improve their presentation skills. Trained on over 100,000 real interview interactions, Elevate offers demo and full-length sessions tailored to specific company formats. If successful, this initiative may be replicated in other institutions, showcasing how AI can enhance employability training for future professionals.
