The IndiaAI Mission has launched a “face authentication challenge” inviting Indian startups to develop a scalable AI-powered facial recognition tool aimed at enhancing the integrity of public examinations. The project offers a two-year contract and up to INR 1 Cr for the top two teams, while ten shortlisted teams will receive INR 5 Lakhs each. The mission has an outlay of INR 10,372 Cr over five years, emphasizing India’s vision to become an AI hub with cutting-edge computing resources for startups and research institutions. Solutions must incorporate facial verification algorithms for photo verification and de-duplication, ensuring a unique ID for each applicant. Applicants must provide proof of innovation and relevant experience, with submissions due by October 25. This initiative aligns with the government’s goal to set up 600 data labs nationwide and foster a robust GenAI ecosystem projected to reach $17 Bn by 2030, further solidifying India’s position in the AI landscape.
