Midjourney has launched its first AI video generation model, V1, enabling users to convert photos into five-second video clips. Users can upload their own images or utilize those created by other Midjourney models to generate four unique five-second videos. This innovation positions Midjourney alongside competitors like OpenAI and Google, yet it focuses specifically on creative users with its image-driven approach. CEO David Holz envisions future advancements leading to real-time open-world simulation capabilities. Access to V1 is available via Discord for a monthly fee, starting at $10 for the Basic plan, with higher-tier subscriptions offering unlimited video generation. V1 features customizable settings, allowing users to automate animations or dictate movements through text input, with options for “low” or “high motion.” Initially, videos last five seconds but can be extended up to 21 seconds. Midjourney plans to reassess its pricing for video services in the near future.
