Introducing OpenAI Academy India: Expanding Access to AI Skills

OpenAI, in collaboration with India’s IndiaAI mission, has launched the ‘OpenAI Academy India,’ aimed at enhancing access to AI skills training nationwide. This initiative is designed to support the IndiaAI Mission’s ‘FutureSkills’ pillar by providing tailored digital and in-person learning opportunities to various groups, including students, developers, educators, and small business owners. Offering content in English and Hindi, with plans for additional regional languages, the academy will also host webinars and workshops in six cities led by domain experts. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the importance of democratizing access to technology to benefit all citizens, while Jason Kwon from OpenAI highlighted India’s rapid pace of AI adoption. The initiative includes a substantial investment worth $100,000 in API credits for approved fellows and aims to train one million teachers in Generative AI technology, fostering innovation and community learning across the nation.
