IRIS Software Group has unveiled its AI-powered tax anomaly detection tool, marking a significant transition from a compliance software provider to an AI-driven tax preparation partner. This innovative feature is now available at no extra cost to UK accounting professionals using IRIS Elements and IRIS Accountancy Suite. The tool, built on Microsoft Foundry with GPT-4.1, streamlines tax return comparisons and flags discrepancies, enhancing accuracy before submission to HMRC. With an estimated annual savings of six million working hours across IRIS’s user base, this initial launch is part of a multi-million-pound investment strategy aimed at establishing IRIS as an “AI-first” organization. Plans for two additional rollouts over the next year include implementing validation checks and advanced automation functionalities across payroll, HR, and educational sectors. CEO Jason Dies emphasized the commitment to transforming customer workflows through AI integration, leveraging Microsoft’s secure technology infrastructure to enhance efficiency in accounting practices.
