Is Gemini AI Being Targeted by Hackers?

A recent quarterly report from Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) reveals that hackers are leveraging Gemini AI as a support tool for sophisticated cyberattacks against individuals and businesses. While no successful attempts to clone Gemini AI have been reported, state-backed groups and private organizations are actively seeking its proprietary logic, which Google classifies as intellectual property theft. The report highlights increasing attempts by hackers, including Korean, Iranian, Chinese, and Russian cybercriminals, to exploit AI capabilities during cyberattacks. Despite widespread adoption of AI in daily life, Americans are expressing growing concerns over privacy and potential data misuse, contributing to a mistrust of tech companies. Simultaneously, the private sector aims to utilize AI for product development, which may accelerate advancements but raises ethical questions. As AI enters a “Wild West” phase, regulatory frameworks and privacy protections remain inadequate, fueling public skepticism. Panda Security, now part of WatchGuard, continues to prioritize advanced cybersecurity solutions to combat these threats.
