Is It a Serious Threat or Just Another Tech Trend?

Share

U.S. adults are split on the implications of artificial intelligence (AI), with 49% viewing it as a typical technological advancement and 49% seeing it as a unique threat. A majority (59%) believes that AI will replace significant human tasks, while 64% intend to delay embracing AI. Interestingly, 66% anticipate AI will surpass robotics in societal influence, and more than half expect it to have a greater impact than the internet, computers, and smartphones. Despite the hype around generative AI tools like ChatGPT, usage remains limited; less than one-third of adults engage with such tools regularly. Demographic gaps exist, particularly in generational and gender differences, with younger adults and men more likely to adopt generative AI. Ultimately, acceptance of AI appears linked to personal experience rather than demographics, suggesting that broader usage may lead to increased comfort and integration of AI into daily life.
