Kansas Attorney General’s Website Exposed in National Scam Campaign | KCUR

Recently, the Kansas Attorney General’s Office website inadvertently hosted links to artificial intelligence deepfake software, financial scams, and adult content. This alarming oversight was highlighted by the Kansas News Service, revealing PDFs under the official domain that featured titles like “DeepNude AI” and “Get Free Cash App Money in 2025.” Although the links were inactive by Tuesday, they remained indexed on Google. This issue is not isolated; similar links have been observed on government sites nationwide. Investigative journalist Brian Penny discovered these troubling links on various state websites, describing efforts to report them as a “whack-a-mole” scenario. One of the first agencies to take action was the Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District, which pulled its site down after harmful content was uploaded via its complaint portal. Granicus, which manages municipal services, stated there was no security breach, attributing the issue to public-facing service abuse, and has since improved its security measures.
