Kazakhstan Partners with Global Nations in OpenAI’s Inaugural Education Initiative

Kazakhstan is set to join the pioneering OpenAI Edu Initiative, becoming the first Central Asian country involved in this global program aimed at enhancing education with artificial intelligence. OpenAI has selected Kazakhstan alongside other countries like Singapore and the UAE, underlining its commitment to digital transformation in education. The initiative will introduce ChatGPT Edu, a specialized AI tool, into Kazakhstan’s education system, providing 165,000 free licenses to various educational institutions, including preschools and technical institutes. This strategic move, initiated through a Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2025, aims to support educators by alleviating administrative burdens and enabling personalized learning experiences. Key government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev, emphasize AI’s role as an enhancement tool for educators and researchers. Regular training sessions led by OpenAI will ensure effective utilization, aligning with national education standards and data security regulations. This initiative promises significant advancements for Kazakhstan’s educational landscape.
