Microsoft has launched Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7344 (KB5070316) in the Dev and Beta channels, introducing several noteworthy features. A standout addition is the public preview of native support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing AI agents to connect seamlessly with apps and services via a secure on-device registry. This enhances developer and IT productivity by enabling agentic workflows.
Key features include the File Explorer Connector, which lets agents retrieve local files using natural language, and the Windows Settings Connector for adjusting settings via natural language commands. Additionally, Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) will automatically activate for non-domain Windows Professional devices.
The update also introduces the Unified Update Orchestration Platform (UOP), streamlining app updates, and a production release of Windows MIDI Services, enhancing support for MIDI 1.0 and 2.0. These updates collectively bolster Windows 11’s capabilities for developers, IT professionals, and end users.
