Kerala High Court Directs All State Courts to Implement AI Tool for Recording Witness Testimonies

The Kerala High Court has mandated the use of “Adalat.AI,” a voice-to-text transcription tool, for recording witness depositions across all courts in the state, effective November 1. This modern approach aims to streamline court processes and reduce delays, replacing the traditional method of manual recording by judges or court staff. Following a successful pilot in Ernakulam’s trial courts, the initiative will ensure depositions are efficiently documented and accessible through the District Court Case Management System (DCMS). Any court facing technical issues with Adalat.AI may seek approval for alternate transcription tools, provided they comply with data security protocols. Nodal Officers in each district will monitor the implementation, including reporting on deposition recording methods. Furthermore, users can forward queries or requests for training related to Adalat.AI to the designated support teams. This transition marks a significant step toward modernizing the judiciary in Kerala, enhancing transparency and access to legal documentation.
