Amazon’s Kindle app has introduced a new AI feature called “Ask this Book,” designed to enhance the reading experience by providing spoiler-free answers to users’ questions. This innovative “expert reading assistant” can address queries related to plot details, character relationships, and thematic elements, ensuring responses are based solely on the text already read. Accessible through the book menu or text highlights, it functions as an in-book chatbot, offering a personalized reading journey. According to Amazon spokesperson Ale Iraheta, these answers are “non-shareable and non-copyable,” available exclusively to users who have purchased or rented the books. The feature is always active and cannot be disabled by authors or publishers, making it a permanent addition to the Kindle experience. This enhancement aims to deepen engagement while respecting content privacy, aligning with Amazon’s commitment to improving user satisfaction in digital reading.
