Kite, an autonomous agent infrastructure company, has secured $18 million in funding led by PayPal Ventures. Formerly known as Zettablock, Kite aims to revolutionize the agentic web with its innovative architecture. The funding round, also co-led by General Catalyst, highlights Kite’s expertise in creating large-scale, real-time data infrastructures for decentralized networks like Sui and Polygon. Recently, Kite launched Kite Agent Identity Resolution (Kite AIR), which empowers autonomous agents to operate independently in real-world settings. Kite AIR includes two main components: Agent Passport, providing secure identities, and the Agent App Store, where agents can access APIs and commerce services. Merchants using APIs from PayPal and Shopify can connect with AI shopping agents, ensuring on-chain transaction traceability through stablecoins. As AI agents gain power, governance concerns rise—Kite’s approach facilitates trust and programmability in automated systems, essential for effective micro-transactions, according to CEO Chi Zhang.
