Legal AI Utilization Reaches 83%, Yet Trust Concerns Persist – Insights from Artificial Lawyer

A recent survey by ALSP Factor reveals a significant shift in the legal sector regarding AI adoption. Over 200 leaders from in-house and law firms reported that 83% now have ‘broad AI access’, up from 61% in 2025, indicating AI is becoming integral for commercial lawyers. However, trust in AI outputs is key to driving usage and achieving ROI, with only 22.1% expressing high trust. Legal teams that trust AI outputs are three times more likely to see positive ROI. Despite advancements, 69.7% of outputs still require revisions, underscoring the need for accuracy to fully industrialize legal workflows. The Factor report emphasizes the importance of using well-tuned models and tailored workflows to enhance AI performance, especially in contract review and summarization tasks. This evolving landscape suggests that increasing accuracy and trust will elevate legal teams’ reliance on AI, ultimately benefiting operational efficiency and return on investment.
