LG Uplus Unveils AI Solutions to Tackle Deepfake Voice Phishing Scams

admin

LG Uplus has launched the world’s first on-device AI, called ‘Anti-DeepVoice,’ to combat the rising incidence of voice phishing scams in South Korea. The technology, embedded in its AI call agent service “ixi-O,” allows for real-time detection of fraudulent audio without compromising user privacy, as data remains on individual smartphones. Developed using over 3,000 hours of call data, Anti-DeepVoice identifies signs of audio manipulation through specific acoustic indicators. Additionally, LG Uplus is creating ‘Anti-Deepfake’ tools to identify AI-generated images and videos by analyzing pixel textures and frame inconsistencies. The company is also planning features for pre-call phishing detection and voice recognition for known fraudsters. LG Uplus is seeking regulatory approval to test these technologies further, aiming to enhance safety and trust in communication. Executive Vice President Jun Byung-ki emphasized the goal of deploying AI for enhanced security in everyday life.
